Blog 21: Independent Component 2

Literal

  1. I, Natalie Najera, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
  2. Weight Watchers.com and "Hungry Girl to the Max" by Lisa Lillien
  3. IC 2 Hours Spreadsheet
  4. I made a 20 page scrapbook with 44 recipes. It took a lot longer of a time than I thought it would take. I thought that it would be an easy way to get 30 hours fast. I was wrong. Scrapbooking takes a huge amount of focus and time. I explained in my spreadsheet a lot of precisely what I did each day.
Interpretive

These pages took so long to complete. There were so many elements that went into making each page different and trying to get a variety of recipes. Cutting everything, drawing everything, writing everything making a layout for everything was very tedious. Each drawing was made up of different parts on different colors of construction paper. Then I had to cut out each piece and connect them like puzzle pieces so that they fit perfectly. Making the mini windmills and flowers from tutorials on pinterest took a really long time in itself. I am so proud of the book that I made. I think it screams Natalie with all of the pastels, florals, and prints. I put a lot of effort into this book and I think it really payed off.

Applied

My independent Component supported two of my answers. It helped change my family's environment because instead of having cookbooks with not a lot of healthy options, now my mom and I have a cute cookbook that has all guilt-free options. I changed my diet with this book. Now I can switch up what I have for dinner, lunch, and breakfast instead of just having a chick salad for lunch and dinner basically everyday. My weight watchers leader says that it is really important to keep on changing what you eat. She told me that this cookbook will help me shed even more weight than I already have.

Blog 15: Independent Component 2 Plan Approval

1. I plan on making a book of healthy recipes that will help people with their nutritional weight loss.
2. Well, I plan to make a scrapbook of it and I will also be making every dish and taking pictures of them to fill each page. Each dish will take up time, but not too much because I want each dish to be able to made quickly because most people don't have a lot of time to spend on meals and that is what leads them to make fast and un-healthy choices.
3. One of my answers is changing your diet, and this will help people change their everyday diet and make smarter choices.

Blog 14: Independent Component 1

Literal:

  • I, Natalie Najera, affirm that I have completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
  • Erin Apregan helped me train: 805-807-3319
  • IC log
  • I completed surpassing my goal weight #1 of 190 pounds. I am now 185 and still working hard to get to where I want to be.

Interpretive:

  • I don't have any photos of me working out or eating right but I do have a before and after picture.
  • The first picture also has some examples of my old diet: Drink (probably rasberry iced tea and candy)
Applied:
  • I learned that eating right can really affect your weight loss, because that is MOSTLY what I have been doing. I substituted all of my unhealthy habits for healthier options and that has made all the difference. I cut out a lot of sugars, sodium, fats, and processed foods out of my diet and all of those factors have contributed greatly to my weight loss.

Senior Project Update

Content:
1. I am currently still losing weight to reach my independent goal of 160
2. I found an article of research done that did a study on women's weight and found that their weight has a tie to their nationality in most cases. This helped me to decide on what my science project was going to be on and how to conduct the study.
3. I can finally fit into my extra large Taylor Swift shirt! It is actually getting really loose!

Independent Component 1 Plan Approval

I plan on setting a goal weight for myself, which will definitely require me to complete 30 hours of work. I figured this was equivalent of Ms. Ortega's example of a sewing project which was to make a dress.

Well to lose weight it is no secret that you have to work out and study nutrition and other key facts, so I think that by making a goal weight for myself and reaching it, I will have no trouble completing 30 hours.

By working out I am utilizing a key factor in losing weight: being active. By being active for at least 30 minutes 5 days out of the week, I am proving that one of the key factors in losing weight is working out.
